We used to have a great dining experience featuring Latin American food (Venezuelan). See their old Instagram account here to see the deliciousness! I’ve been wanting one of their arepas again and never got back in before they closed.

Last Sunday’s three-miler on February 4, 9link0 left be sore for two days. I could feel it in my abdominals and hamstring.

By this past Saturday, my fiancé decided we should run 6 miles at the park and then get those arepas! I found a location that offers a Columbian version between the park and my home. He benched on Sunday morning while took my time around the house.

I dressed in shorts, a long sleeve shirt with a sweatshirt over, gloves, sunglasses, and a headband. Luckily there was no precipitation but it was a little windy, and about 33 degrees. Two days before, the area hit a record high of 62 F. Though my legs looked bright red, nothing was itchy or cold.

Now I know I tell people all the time not to do too much too soon. I swear it’s the biggest injury besides bad shoes, I’m predicting. I was in no shape to run this distance but I did it anyway. I set out to finish, no matter the speed, even walking is OK. I ran the whole way, something I couldn’t possibly do last spring.

On the way home, I went into Rosita’s Treats. The owner was sitting in there and he and his employee helped me get as close to a Venezuela arepa as I could, with some meat empanadas to fill up two people, we needed the protein. Even while I was waiting, which wasn’t long, someone came in and said he was just there yesterday for the first time but it was so good he was sent back out for more.

Corn pancake with cheese, yuca fritter filled with cheese, and four beef empanadas

It was good and I’ll likely be back. It wasn’t quite the same as the arepa sandwich I had but the melty cheese and corn pancake was excellent.

By that night watching the super bowl, I could barely stand upright from sitting position to shuffle and get cute cookies on the coffee table. I could have done with Advil. The next day, I was moving around like myself though my quads were on fire! We did an abdominal exercise YouTube video and I knew I need to foam roll – but I didn’t. crazy face.

I’m awfully proud of Sundays run. On Tuesday it was very blustery and cold, I did a little less than 2 mile shuffle at about 10:26 pace. It was stiff but good to keep moving.
