What’s something new you’ve learned recently? Well, I learned that the pack of Honey Stinger energy chews I’ve been using is really TWO servings, instead of one. For several years, Honey Stinger has been my training fuel of choice during workouts and races. That’s not going to change, don’t worry. But I was reading the back for maybe the first time ever, and “Nutrition Facts: About 2 servings per package; Serving size… 6 chews (30 g)” Wait, what?!

This WHOLE TIME I’ve been consuming a full package at a time. Before Bikram yoga class as an after-work snack. During long runs. During half marathons and marathons. While on a long bike ride. On the Grinnell Glacier Hike in Montana.

Not that this is problem; it isn’t. The fuel has worked great for me at the consumption rate I did use. But maybe I could have done just as well with only half the package? Or saved $ by making two uses out of one package instead of a single serving? From a business perspective, I think Honey Stinger should make clear on the front of the package that there are “About two servings per package.”

Oh well. So check your running fuel packs and let me know if they’re also surprisingly two servings. Or did you already know this? Tell me.
